Pim Fitzpayne
Pim Fitzpayne is an intern for Circumambulating Objects: Paradigms of Restitution in Southeast Asian Art. She received a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford and, after a number of years practising as a lawyer, she recently completed an MA in History of Art and Archaeology at SOAS, University of London. She is particularly interested in questions of aniconic and anthropomorphic representation in, and art historical categorisations of, the sacred art of Southeast Asia.
As part of a group research project with CO-OP, focusing on the Cambodian objects in the collection of the British Museum, Pim is exploring the networks of dealers, auction houses and collectors through whose hands the objects passed before entering the museum. She hopes that a greater understanding of these networks might encourage more proactive provenancing of collections and exchange between institutions.
