Phuy Meychean

Phuy Meychean is currently an intern for Circumambulating Objects: on Paradigms of Restitution of Southeast Asian Art. She earned a BA in Archaeology from the Royal University of Fine Arts, Phnom Penh, and also earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art at SOAS University of London. Recently, she completed an MA in History of Art and Archaeology also at SOAS. Her research interest lies in Hindu and Buddhist goddesses in ancient Cambodia. Prior to her studies in London, Meychean served as a contract officer at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Art, Phnom Penh, where she worked with the temple conservation and restoration team.

As a CO-OP intern, Meychean collaborates with two other interns. Her research focuses primarily on understanding the illicit looting and trading routes of Cambodian materials. She hopes that this internship will expand her knowledge in documenting art objects, tracing their journeys, and establishing connections to their origins.
